99.9 % of  the time the Artist of the month is a singer. In October 2011 the Artist of the month was the poet Tanya Davis. We call it Artist Of The Month  not singer or entertainer of the month. Because sometimes it might be a painter, photographer, dancer, musician, actor. comedian, writer , etc . The Artist Of The Month for August 2012 is the actress Teal Sherer.

Teal Sherer is a very beautiful and talented actor. She is also producer. The first time I saw Teal was in the awesome Elf Sabers video she did last year. I just found out about her show on YouTube called My Gimpy Life. On YouTube they show a lot of ads for the YouTube channel WIGS. All the shows on WIGS suck. My Gimpy Life and is much better than any of the shows on WIGS. You should check the show out. I love Teal's show it is very funny. But I have to warn you it does have a lot of Profanity.

At the age of 14, Teal was in a car accident. She broke her back and became a paraplegic. She is an advocate for people with disabilities. In 2011 Teal received the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation Acting Award.

Andy Griffith dies in North Carolina at 86

His wife Cindi Griffith, issued a statement saying:
"I cannot imagine life without Andy, but I take comfort and strength in God's Grace and in the knowledge that Andy is at peace and with God."

The Andy Griffith Show was about the people of the community looking out for each other. Do you think we still have that today or has it been lost. When you see the video of the kids on the bus bullying the sweet old lady bus monitor. It makes you think we have lost something in this nation. Opie Taylor would never did what those kids on the bus did. Because he knew his dad would beat his butt until the cows came home.

October Baby Review: Worthy of Oscar Nominations

Every life is beautiful and so is October Baby. Beautiful might be the best and only way to describe the movie called October Baby. It has been many years since I have been so touched by a movie. The last time a movie moved me like October Baby did was Children of a Lesser God. Marlee Matlin's performance in that movie is something that I will never forget. After all these years it still touches my heart every time I think about it. I feel the same way and maybe even more about October Baby. Everyone in the cast was great. Just the best and most awesome group of actors that I have ever seen.  Even the ones that had small parts did a great job. I have nothing but love for them all. Jennifer Price was great as the adoptive mother. Rachel Hendrix was great as Hannah. Jasmine Guy and Shari Rigby gave two performances that will blow you away. Most people know Jasmine Guy from the TV show A Different World and Dead Like Me. Chris Sligh did a great job giving some humor to a very serious movie. Most people know Chris Sligh from American Idol. John Schneider has been in many movies and tv shows. He is best known for The Dukes of Hazzard and Smallville. The writers of the movie did exceptional work. Oscar nomination worthy work on this movie. They took a storyline that was not new. An old storyline that we have seen many times before in other movies. Someone finds out they are adopted. Then they go on a search for their birth parents. We have seen and read this storyline hundreds of times before. They took this storyline and made a masterpiece. One of the most heartwarming movies ever made. October Baby was inspired by a true story, the story of Gianna Jessen. However 80% of October Baby could be the story of any person that was adopted.

Is October Baby good enough for some Oscar nominations? Yes, it is that good. However that is zero chance of that happening. Two reasons why. First it's hard some people like New York Times critic Jeannette Catsoulis to give an objective opinion of the movie. The second reason is that not enough people will see this movie. It did pretty good last weekend. It might keep doing about the same.  But I don't think it well every do great. Not a lot of people will go see it. The main problem is that most people have never heard about this movie. Friends, co-workers, no one I know has heard about October Baby. I don't know what the advertising budget is for October Baby but I bet it's not large. Also the kinds of people going to see this movie are been very limited. Mostly these people are evangelical Christians and strong prolife supporters. That's too bad because this movie can and does appeal to a much larger audience.

Prolife and prochoice groups have both been freaking out over October Baby. Abortion is a very controversial subject. People on both sides get crazy at times. October Baby is not a controversial movie. Even thou some people try to make it one. Everyone is trying to make this into the big abortion movie.  For me the bond between adoptive parents and their kids is a large part of the movie. There is also a nice love story in the movie.

The movie is being marketed heavily as a faith based or Christina film.  The reason is that it promotes a certain set of moral values.  I believe the moral values in October Baby exists in all religions. Not just the Christian religion. So go and see October Baby. If you are a Jew, Hindu, Christian, Muslim, Wiccan, Atheist, or Buddhist go and see October Baby.  Even if you are gay, straight, bi or Thai you should see October Baby.

John Carter Review: Perfect And Better Than Avatar

Trust me on this one. You have to go and see John Carter. Don't wait for the DVD or for it to be on cable. If you have kids take the whole family to see it. John Carter is one of the best movies I have seen in the last 5 or 10 years.  I loved everything about this movie. John Carter is a great sci-fi movie, great action movie and great love story. There have been  few made reviews of the movie. Philip French and Peter Bradshaw said the movie was terrible. I am here to tell you they are 100% wrong. In fact I will put my reputation on the line in support of John Carter. I will personally guarantee that if you see this movie you will love it.  I just don't understand how anyone could give this movie a bad review. The story line and the acting were great.  John Carter is a movie that everyone can enjoy watching. Adults , young people, older people,   a movie for everyone. Men , women, kids, all groups of people. This is not just for the sci-fi fans. I know married people that have completely different tastes in movies. Sci-fi, action, love story, mystery, western, this movie has something for everyone. I  lot of people have been comparing John Carter to the Avatar movie. I think John Carter is better than Avatar. Also a very family friendly movie. It's rated PG-13 and it's a very weak PG-13. Not any love scenes that will make you feel weird watching with your kids. Also not a lot of profanity or offensive language in the movie. You can feel safe taking the whole family to see John Cater.

Princess Dejah Thoris vs Princess Leia

Taylor Kitsch was perfect for the role of John Carter. He is a good actor and did a great job in the movie. I do not want take away anything that he did and gave to the movie. However I have to say John Carter might end up being remembered as Lynn Collins's movie. She does a great job as Princess Dejah Thoris of Mars. It's easy to see how John Carter or anyone would fall in love with her. I am not just saying this because she is super hot. Megan Fox is hot but her acting sucks. Lynn Collins is a great actress. Princess Dejah Thoris as earned a place in sci-fi history next to Princess Leia.

A perfect movie? In the movies that I like and even love. I always think about something I might change. I might say I don't like this one scene in the movie. Maybe it was a good movie but the ending could have been better. Maybe I say this actor was good in the movie but maybe this other guy would have been better. Sometimes I say it was a good movie but too long. I would not change a single thing about John Carter.
